    {Economic: Al Furat News} The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, renewed the Ministry's commitment to implementing the Pension and Social Security Law for Workers upon its ratification and publication in the Official Gazette.
    Al-Asadi said, during the workshop on the application of the law, which began its work today, Saturday, in Baghdad: "We celebrate this day the launch of the retirement and social security bill for workers, whose legislation has passed for more than 50 years and has not been implemented until today."
    He added, "The retirement law is one of the most important major laws and vital legislation, and it has advantages that make workers race to register in this law, indicating that the government supports pension contributions for the organized sector by 8%, so that the total retirement contributions are 25%."
    He explained, "The broader segment of workers did not have a share of this law previously, but today they will have a retirement salary, and the government will pay pension contributions at a rate of 15%, i.e. three times what the worker pays for his own insurance, which is what is called (optional insurance). )".
    And he continued: "The salaries of retired workers have been increased by about 100,000 dinars, and thus the minimum pension for a worker becomes 500,000 dinars. We have also started, since we took over the ministry's tasks, to work on automating all the ministry's departments, including the retirement and social security department for workers."
    The advantages of the new retirement and social security law for workers, according to the Ministry of Labor, are as follows:
    1- Expanding the umbrella of coverage of the provisions of the law by adding the voluntary retirement branch and guaranteeing workers in unorganized work for broader protection for workers and non-workers due to their inclusion in the provisions of this law.
    2- Adding labor service in the government sector for the purposes of bonus, promotion and retirement.
    3- Including a retirement formula that guarantees a retirement salary that provides psychological and material stability for those covered by the provisions of this law, equal to the retirement formula for employees.
    4- State support for workers covered by social security by paying (8%) of the wages and allowances of workers in organized work and (15%) of the wages of workers in unorganized work, which contributes to the financial sustainability of pensions and the sustainability of the fund.
    5- Giving permission to employers to pay contributions within a period of (90) days instead of (30) days, with stopping late fines to a ceiling of (200%) instead of continuing without a ceiling.
    6- Obligating the Authority to electronically automate all aspects of its work, within a period not exceeding one year from the date of entry into force of the law.
    7- Purchasing a service for the worker who does not have a service that qualifies him to obtain a pension. Purchasing a service for the purpose of entitlement to a pension, provided that it does not exceed five years.
    8- The possibility of ensuring any Iraqi himself with voluntary retirement.
    9- The transfer of the pension for partial disability to the successor upon the death of the pensioner.
    10- Grant annual cost of living allowances and link them to inflation.
    11- The possibility of returning the sums of the end-of-service gratuity that the workers had previously benefited from in order to re-include them in the guarantee and that the service be counted for the purposes of retirement.
    12- Reducing the disability pension entitlement percentage from a disability rate of 35% or more to a disability rate of (30%) or more.
    13- Adding the unemployment insurance branch by granting salaries by the authority to the worker who was idle from work for a reason beyond his control.
    14- Granting the insured worker pregnancy and childbirth leave with full salary.
    15- Provide health insurance for insured workers through retirement with reputable insurance companies and in coordination with the Ministry of Health to provide all health services for insured workers.
    16- Adjusting the salaries of retirees before the laws come into force according to a mechanism prepared by the department based on the decision of the Board of Directors.
