Shafaq News/ The NATO mission in Iraq pledged, on Wednesday, to continue supporting the security forces in this country through training and providing military advice, while it reaffirmed that it is present at the request of the federal government.
This came during the ceremony of transferring power to the position of NATO commander in Iraq between Lieutenant General "Giovanni Maria Iannucci" of the Italian army and Lieutenant General "Jose Antonio Oero Martinez" of the Spanish army.

"We have the honor to be in Iraq, and the command replacement ceremonies confirm our participation in this country, and this is openly and not obscure," said the commander of the first team, Stuart Manush, during the "NATO" alliance, which was attended by Shafaq News agency's correspondent.
He added that the NATO mission is a training and advisory mission, and it is present at the request of the Iraqi government, adding: We worked to support Iraq and train the current and next generation, and that they face difficulties like the last period.
Manush also stressed that participation requires close cooperation with many officials in the Iraqi government, and we are cooperating and continuing to support Iraqi institutions.
He went on to say that the "NATO" mission in Iraq is a strong party through the good relations built through Commander Giovanni Maria Iannucci with Iraqi officials.
Manush continued by saying that the position in itself is continuous leadership, and that the past year represented a "good" year through the joint work and support provided by the mission to the Iraqi armed forces.
For his part, the former NATO mission commander, Lieutenant General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, said during the handover ceremony, "I am saddened by the departure of many Iraqi friends, including the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army."
He also mentioned that the Iraqi army is one of the oldest armies. It was established in the year 1921 and is one of the strongest armies in the region. The Iraqi army has the culture, traditions and ability to stabilize Iraq's security. We spoke with Lieutenant General "Yar Allah" to strengthen the partnership between the army and NATO forces.
For his part, Lieutenant General Jose Antonio Oero Martinez said during the handover ceremony, today a Spanish commander replaces an Italian commander in Iraq to lead a mission behind NATO, and there is no change in the mission's work.
He noted that all members of the coalition share values, and NATO was born to confront external threats, stressing that the coalition mission is now working in Iraq at the request of the government.
He went on to say that Iraq is not Europe, but they should learn from the European experience, and we live in a world where risks cannot be limited to certain regions, and that providing advice is the primary task of NATO in Iraq.
The new commander stressed that the NATO mission needs the support of the ambassadors of the member states, and they must continue to support the mission.
