    Shafaq News / An Iraqi government advisor stated, on Wednesday, that the "largest" development road project to be implemented will start in Basra, "the southernmost point of the country" and end in European countries.



    The media advisor to the Prime Minister, Hisham al-Rikabi, said, in a press statement, seen by Shafaq News Agency, that the development road, the largest transportation project in the region, starts from Basra and passes through ten Iraqi governorates, all the way to Turkey and from there to Europe.
    And the Iraqi government announced that the capital, Baghdad, will host next Saturday a conference of transport ministers in the Gulf countries and the Iraqi neighborhood, with the aim of discussing the project to establish the "dry canal."
    According to government spokesman Basem Al-Awadi, the conference will discuss a promising project represented by the strategic development road (the dry channel), and he explained that it constitutes a vital and important path for all countries in the region and the world.

    For its part, the Iraqi Ministry of Transport said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that the countries that were invited to attend the conference are (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Iran), and all have confirmed These countries wish to attend and participate in the activities of the conference.   
    The statement added that the conference will be held in the government palace inside the Green Zone, next Saturday (May 27), and will last for one day only.
