Libya has restarted the "Al-Hakim" oil field after it was suspended for more than seven years, according to what was announced by the Libyan National Oil Corporation.
The NOC said on its official Facebook page that the Zueitina Oil Company had succeeded in conducting trial run tests for the field, and that one of the wells had been placed on the production line, and a group of wells would follow, expecting the field's production to reach 3,000 barrels per day before the end of the year.
The authorities in Libya are racing against time to increase the daily production of oil to 2 million barrels per day during the next five years, through the completion of investment projects pumped by the "Eni" and "Total" companies.
Libya aims to increase its production of crude oil during the remaining six months of this year, to reach 1.3 million barrels per day, an increase of 96 thousand barrels from the current rate, which is just over 1.2 million barrels.
Libya has oil reserves of 48 billion barrels of oil, in addition to the presence of shale oil, whose investment will raise the reserves to 70 billion, according to the Libyan consultant in the oil and gas sector, Abdul Jalil Al-Mayouf.
Libya is currently witnessing a rapid recovery in the energy sector. To exceed the volume of its daily production of 1.2 million barrels in 2022, according to the African Energy Chamber, which linked this to the recent change in the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Corporation, expecting stability in the volume of production this year.
