[rtl]Baghdad / NINA /- Today, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, the work of the eleventh meeting of the Technical Committee for Arab Rules of Origin, chaired by Saudi Arabia, began with the participation of delegations from 17 Arab countries , members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area.
Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, Director of the Economic Integration Department at the League of Arab States, confirmed that the meeting, which will be held under the chairmanship of Abdulaziz Al-Mughirah, Advisor to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will discuss over a period of three days seven main items related to the Arab rules of origin, foremost of which is holding a workshop on a workshop on issuing rules of origin online.
Abu Al-Nasr added, in his opening speech, that the meeting is discussing Tunisia's proposal regarding the provisions for dealing with the issuance of certificates of origin within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, especially the problems facing the issuance of certificates of origin and invoices accompanying the goods, and how to address them in the future, as well as considering the proposal that was submitted. The workshop aims to raise awareness among representatives of the private sector of the importance of applying the principle of cumulation of origin and benefiting from preferential advantages if applied within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area. The review of the general provisions of the Arab rules of origin for Arab goods will also be completed based on the observations and opinions of the Arab member states of the
Greater Arab Free Trade Zone, which is a permanent item on the agenda of the committee's meetings until the final review of the provisions, as about 90% of the general provisions have been reviewed, and the remaining items will be discussed in preparation for submitting them to the Economic and Social Council for consideration for approval.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a workshop will be held on issuing a certificate of origin electronically within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Zone, in cooperation and coordination with the Arab Union of Customs Brokers.
