Al-Maliki said, in an interview with the Twenty program broadcast by Alsumaria TV, that his ministry has taken several steps to support farmers, including: "allowing merchants and companies to import sprayers without customs, and this matter contributed to lowering their value."

He pointed out that "the second step is to create a supreme committee headed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the membership of the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Planning and Finance, the Department of Opinion Technologies and the Agricultural Bank to set up a mechanism for granting loans and helping farmers by purchasing them in long-term installments and facilitating the issue of guarantees."

He pointed out that "more than 50% of the previous loans were not returned," noting that "they invested in real estate and cars and invested little in agriculture," adding: "Therefore, we want to put in place a balanced mechanism that does not contain complexity or ease."

Regarding the "farmer's card," the minister explained that it is "one of the important programs for which an amount of 21 billion dinars has been allocated, and within two years it will be implemented, while the project will be initiated after the budget is approved."

And he stated, "This card will take a complete database on the owner of the land, through which fertilizer will be supplied, and it will also prevent forgery and greatly reduce administrative routine."
