The ministry stated in a statement, which "NAS" received a copy of (June 7, 2023), that "the ration card automation project is one of the important projects and a step to eliminate corruption, reduce time and effort, reduce reviews, prevent manipulation and preserve public money, and the ministry is making efforts to finish it."

He added, "The sealing of the electronic automation form to update the ration card is free, and the citizens do not incur any sums of money," noting that "the Minister of Trade, during his visit to the governorates, including Kirkuk, directed not to collect any amounts from citizens to seal the form."

He pointed out, "Based on the directives of the Minister of Trade, Atheer Daoud Al-Ghariri, during his visit to the city of Kirkuk and the meeting with the governor, Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, the latter directed the heads of all administrative units to inform all the mukhtars working in the governorate of stamping the electronic automation form to update the ration card for free."

He called on citizens to "report any violations and file a complaint in the event that any amount is received from them, so that legal measures will be taken against the violators of the instructions."
