    The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced today, Wednesday, the opening of inquiries for loans for small projects, and raising the capital of the lending fund to one trillion and 200 billion dinars, while setting the date for launching the 36th batch of soft loans.
    Al-Asadi said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The ministry opened today, electronic inquiries in the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Vocational Training concerned with soft loans and income-generating loans.”
    He added, “This introduction came in preparation for the ministry's plan, which will start after approving the budget, as the ministry raised the capital of the lending fund to one trillion and 200 billion dinars over a period of up to 3 years, and there will be support of 400 billion dinars in the 2023 budget for soft and income-generating loans.” .
    He pointed out that "these big steps will be part of the completion of governance and automation in all departments of the state," noting that "the Department of Labor and Vocational Training began with these procedures since taking over the tasks of the ministry, and The procedures will be completed for all departments of the ministry during the current year 2023.
    And he continued, “We launched a week before the 35th batch of loans for 5,000 borrowers, and during the next week or the following, we will launch the 36th batch, which will also include 5,000 new borrowers in Baghdad and the provinces.”
    He pointed out that “one of the most important challenges facing the ministry is the lack of human resources, and the ministry has large files, including social protection, care departments and people with disabilities, in addition to a severe shortage in the number of social researchers and employees who complete the rest of the procedures, in addition to the presence of an acute shortage of general inspectors.” and Social Security inspectors.”
    And he added, “We submitted a proposal to support the ministry with new employees when distributing the grades approved for holders of postgraduate degrees and first graduates. A few hundred employees with postgraduate degrees were distributed to the ministry, but the shortage is still severe.”
    He revealed "a plan to address the acute shortage in the coming months, by increasing the number of inspectors, in addition to the inauguration of a number of courses set up by the Department of Labor and Vocational Training for inspectors of the Department of Labor and inspectors of occupational health and safety," stressing that "all these steps will be in the interest of the Ministry and the social partners who are workers and employers."
    Regarding the public works program, Al-Asadi said, “The program has not been launched yet, and it is in the process of approvals related to the disbursement of financial benefits, as it costs about 120 billion dinars, and provides employment opportunities for 100,000 unemployed people within a year,” pointing out that “the program It is still under study in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and we are awaiting its approval in order to move towards this promising project.”
