Preventing the leveling of agricultural lands to widen the streets

the Baghdad governorate prevented the bulldozing of agricultural lands to implement street expansion projects and relieve traffic jams, at a time when the Ministry of Construction confirmed that the process of removing conflicts takes place after obtaining the original approvals.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, Nabil Al-Saffar, told Al-Sabah: The sectoral authorities that are working on projects to remove traffic jams and expand streets are holding intensive meetings in order to define road paths and intersections, and then approve the projects.
He added that the ministry will not encroach on any agricultural land, whether belonging to the state or to individuals, and it cannot dispose of the lands without obtaining the necessary approvals officially from the sectoral authorities, in addition to that the Ministry of Planning does not approve projects unless it checks the ownership of the lands in order to determine expropriation and sorting.
For his part, the governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, told Al-Sabah: The project to remove traffic jams has nothing to do with bulldozing lands, as they are specific paths drawn according to designs far from agricultural lands, but there are rural roads belonging to certain villages that are repaired, expanded, or a street is built. New at the request of the villagers to exploit part of the land after obtaining their consent.
He noted that the governorate issued a circular banning any razing of agricultural lands and stopping it by the Baghdad Municipalities Directorate in coordination with the force holding the land, adding that in the event that there are areas with conflicts, whether agricultural or otherwise, the sectoral authorities are working to take all legal approvals to remove the conflicts that prevent Without implementing the project and without harming the public interest, but in the event that the conflicts are solely owned by individuals, they are legally compensated and the land is acquired according to judicial expropriation.
