Taha Samiei, Assistant for Commercial Affairs and Trade Development at the General Administration of Industry, Mines and Trade in the Iranian province of Kurdistan, said on Saturday that the province exported commodities with a financial value of more than $200 million within three months to several countries, led by Iraq.
The Iranian semi-official Fars news agency quoted Sami'i as saying that 218 million and 540 thousand dollars of all kinds of goods were exported abroad across the province's borders in the first three months of the current Iranian year (starting on March 21, 2023).
Regarding the most important commodities exported by the governorate, Samiei mentioned: agricultural and horticultural products 61%, chemical and mineral products 19%, and industrial products 20%, adding that these commodities were exported to Iraq, Turkey, Syria and India.
He also noted that the Kurdistan Governorate's imports during this period amounted to 72,102,477 dollars.
Samiei explained that aluminum ingots, aluminum scraps, film strips and spare parts for packaging are among the main imported commodities to the governorate, noting that Iraq, China, the UAE, Turkey and Germany are among the main importing countries.
The Iranian official continued by saying that the volume of transit exchanges in the first three months of this current Iranian year across the borders of Kurdistan Governorate amounted to 987 million 431 thousand 491 dollars.
