On Tuesday, the Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee called on the government to expedite sending the provincial councils law, stressing that Parliament seeks to issue new legislation in coordination with the central government.

The deputy head of the committee, Jawad Al-Yasari, said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The enactment of a new law for the provincial councils will regulate the work and powers of these councils, and set the dates for holding elections in them and the mechanism for selecting the governor.”
He added, "The Regions and Provinces Committee is awaiting the arrival of the Provincial Councils Law from the government to Parliament for the purpose of passing it."
He pointed out that "the law is still included in the government, and that the House of Representatives during the next stage seeks to address the work of the provincial councils." End / 25 hours
