Iraq and Kuwait towards overcoming the outstanding issues

Iraq and Kuwait expressed their desire to consolidate fraternal relations, enhance constructive cooperation and overcome outstanding issues between the two countries. This came during the reception of the Presidents and Ministers of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah Al-Sabah in the capital, Baghdad, on Sunday.
And the office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement that, “The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at the Baghdad Palace, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.”
The President of the Republic stressed "the importance of consolidating brotherly relations between the two countries and enhancing understanding and constructive cooperation in order to achieve common interests and encourage investment and trade opportunities, with the need to continue joint coordination and work together to find satisfactory understandings on outstanding issues and reach decisive solutions that contribute to building a prosperous future." Rashid said: "We are interested in the success of all efforts aimed at establishing the security and stability necessary to continue work and construction."
For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure for the achievements made in Iraq, and his confidence in Iraq's access to safety, stability and prosperity, and added that "the talks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were fruitful, and our relations are solid and strong and will be better and will witness great achievements," referring to "historic relations Which brings the two countries together, and aspires to strengthen it in various fields.” He also received Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his accompanying delegation.
According to a statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office, the meeting witnessed a discussion of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, ways to enhance them and consolidate ties in various fields, and to increase levels of cooperation and partnership in the economic fields and at the level of the private sector, and opportunities for exchange between businessmen.
Al-Sudani affirmed "the availability of a serious desire to overcome the outstanding issues between the two countries, in a way that preserves the interests of the two peoples and the two countries," noting that "the Iraqi government continues to work jointly with brotherly and neighboring countries to ensure common interests."
For his part, the Kuwaiti minister conveyed to the Sudanese a written message from his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, regarding prospects for joint work between the two countries, Kuwait's desire for fruitful communication with Iraq, and strengthening relations and partnership for the interests of the two brotherly countries.
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah Al-Sabah, who arrived in Baghdad on Sunday, and held talks with him, followed by a joint press conference.
Hussein said at the conference: "We touched on the bilateral relations between Iraq and Kuwait, and discussed how to protect the good relations between the two countries and how to develop them, and we also touched on the process of facilitating visits between them."
He added, "We discussed the border demarcation file and agreed to continue holding committees regarding the file, and we confirmed the end of border issues between Iraq and Kuwait," noting that "the oil file and common fields were part of our discussions," adding that "the correct framework for solving problems is dialogue."
And the Foreign Minister continued, "We affirmed that the relations between the two countries are strong and will continue in cooperation and dialogue between the two parties. The security of the region is considered collective security, and we will work jointly in the security field to protect the countries of the region, and our relations with Kuwait are developed and will continue between the two countries."
For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister said: "We had very fruitful discussions and our determination to implement what happened in the talks, and we must work to end the file of demarcating the maritime borders, and we found a congruence of views with the Iraqi side."
Al-Sabah added, "His country is keen to restore matters to normal in the historical commercial relationship, and we decided to open a commercial attaché at the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra," and revealed that "a delegation from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil will visit Baghdad on September 10 to discuss the file of the common fields."
In turn, the governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, who participated in the Foreign Minister's meetings with his Kuwaiti counterpart, announced that "the demarcation of the borders between Iraq and Kuwait was discussed, and it was agreed that the specialized committees would hold meetings to demarcate the borders in a fair manner for the two countries."
