Today, Monday, the Ministry of Transport revealed the completion of a group of submerged tunnel approaches, one of the projects of the Al Faw Grand Port.
A statement by the ministry quoted the Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, as saying, “The submerged tunnel approaches – one of the projects of the great port of Faw – have a total number of 56 approaches, as there are 28 approaches from the Umm Qasr side and 28 from the Al-Faw city side.” A number of them on both sides.
Al-Fartousi stressed, according to the statement, that "there is remarkable progress in the percentage of achievement on the ground," attributing this to "the direct and field follow-up of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi."
The statement detailed that "the Submerged Tunnel Project (Basra Tunnel) is one of the giant projects, and it is one of the projects of the great Al-Faw port, as it passes under the Khor Al-Zubayr navigational canal with a length of (2.4) km, and connects the city of Umm Qasr and the city of Al-Faw," noting that "it is considered The link between the port of Faw and the development road that will link the east with the west, and will be of great importance in serving the global transport movement.
