The Ministry of Migration and Displacement updated 98 percent of the data of the displaced after coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ali Abbas Jhakir, told Al-Sabah: Coordination took place with the Independent High Electoral Commission, after signing a memorandum of understanding, to update the data of the displaced persons included in the electoral process, because most of them do not update their biometric cards. He added that the UNHCR's mobile teams visited the camps of the displaced in the Kurdistan region, and a large percentage of them were updated, reaching about 98 percent of those who reached the legal age to participate in the provincial elections, in order to preserve their votes as voters and ensure their participation in them.
