Today, Saturday (August 12, 2023), a member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Hadi al-Salami, revealed the existence of a parliamentary movement to activate the questioning of officials in the Iraqi parliament during the next stage.
Al-Salami told "Baghdad Today" that "there is a movement by the representatives in Parliament in order to activate the questioning of officials during the next stage."
He added, "There are many observations on the work and performance of some ministerial officials and others with special degrees."
And that "during the last period, there was a decline in the issue of the oversight role of Parliament through the activation of interrogations because of deals and political courtesies."
Al-Salami stressed that "we are determined to greatly activate the monitoring role during the coming period, away from any deals, courtesies and pressures."
Parliament had previously set a date for hosting the Minister of Interior and Finance in Parliament, provided that the hosting is by oral questioning.
