A member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Adnan Al-Jabri, favored the legislation of the oil and gas law in the current session.
Al-Jabri said in a press interview seen by “Takadam” that “the oil and gas law is one of the most important laws expected to be enacted during the current session, as committees were formed by the Council of Ministers to study the provisions of the draft law that need political and technical consensus between the producing provinces and the region’s oil and how to manage this The file after the law was passed.
He added, "Now the steps taken by the government are serious, and after completing the negotiations within the committees, the draft law will be transferred to the House of Representatives for the purpose of studying and voting on it."
Al-Jabri indicated that “there are no disputes over the law, but there are different points of view related to oil management, whether from the current producing fields or from the explored fields that have not been developed so far, or what is related to the export of oil, as well as the request of the producing provinces for permanent representation within the Federal Oil Council.”
He stressed, “The government is serious about legislating this law, which is part of the government program, and we have seen practical steps by the government; Therefore, we are certain that the law will be enacted during the current parliamentary session.
Regarding the oil agreement in the 2023 budget, Al-Jabri explained, “It has not entered into force until this moment due to the non-resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan region towards Turkey as a result of disputes over the illegal export mechanism and the decision of the International Court; But there is work to benefit from the region's oil for local consumption and to compensate for exports from the southern outlets.
