Today, Wednesday (August 16, 2023), member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Representative Baqir Al-Saadi, reviewed 3 reasons for the delay in 1,800 projects related to services and infrastructure in Iraq, while indicating that work has resumed with 30% of these projects.
Al-Saadi said in an interview, "His committee conducted in the past days a series of important hosting for most of the governors to find out the reasons for the delay of more than 1800 service projects over the course of 4 successive governments in the sectors of water, health, industry and other services related to infrastructure."
He added, "3 reasons stand behind these projects, the most prominent of which are intersections, corruption, and the lack of a comprehensive vision to solve the problems that stand in the way of completing them according to technical specifications," stressing that "the Sudanese government succeeded in resuming 30% of these projects within a short period, and work is underway to complete the rest." One of the projects in coordination with the Services Committee, which played an effective role.
He pointed out that "the disbursement of the 2023 budget will give a strong impetus to hundreds of important projects in the Iraqi governorates, some of which have been suspended pending the payment of dues of companies and contractors," noting that "his committee referred dozens of cases at the same time to the integrity as part of its role in combating corruption."
He continued, "The role of the Sudanese government in the services file will emerge remarkably in the coming months, especially with the acceleration of the completion of important projects, whether in service structures or related to the entrances to the main cities, in addition to an important vision on addressing the housing file in the distribution of tens of thousands of plots in Baghdad and the rest of the country." The provinces will be distributed soon.
