    Information/translation...
A report by the American newspaper Al-Monitor revealed, on Saturday, that decades of wars caused by the United States in Iraq and the subsequent terrorism contributed to the emergence of deadly diseases that kill Iraqis, including antibiotic resistance.
The report, which was translated by Al-Maalouma Agency, stated that "despite the passage of six years since the liberation of the city of Mosul from the grip of the terrorist organization ISIS, the city is fighting a silent enemy, as there are high rates of infections from drug-resistant infections, a phenomenon that results from decades." wars, the use of weapons, aerial bombardment and a threat to global health."
The report quoted Imad Ahmed, a member of the Antibiotics Committee at Mosul Hospital, as saying, "We are witnessing a silent tsunami. We are slowly losing the medicines that we hope to obtain." He refers to the monthly drug spreadsheet from hospital lab samples."
He added, "We see that the powerful antibiotic treatment (ceftriaxone) does not work in 90 percent of the samples due to the strength of the bacteria. Even the treatment of "meropenem", which is one of the most effective antibiotics, does not work."
He continued, "Ceftriaxone and meropenem are two types of antibiotics used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections such as meningitis and pneumonia, and they are the natural treatment for a group of sexually transmitted diseases, but they have become less effective in treating diseases because the bacteria that target them have become resistant to them."
And the report indicated that "the passage of sewage water into the open air, as is the case in many Iraqi cities, prompted many doctors to over-dispense antibiotics for bacteria, but the latter have adapted over time to treatments and have become unaffected by them," noting that "antibiotic-resistant bacteria It killed 1.27 million people in the world in 2019 and could kill up to 10 million people in 2050, according to global estimates.
The report noted that "Iraq is going through a situation more affected by this evolving crisis, and it is late in dealing with this situation, especially since the country has gone through extraordinary circumstances that extend from the Gulf War and the international blockade to the US invasion of the country and its use of lethal and internationally prohibited weapons." End/ 25 zd
