Al-Obeidi: External decisions are behind the ongoing Sunni splits
• Today 13:07

Information / Baghdad ..
Former MP Jamila Al-Obaidi identified, on Tuesday, the real reason behind the continued defections of the Sunni parties and alliances in the governorates of Anbar, Salahuddin and Diyala.
Al-Obeidi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, "The observer of the political situation in the Sunni provinces finds the size of the interventions that led to many splits within the political parties and alliances in the provinces of Anbar and Diyala."
She added, "The real reason behind these defections is related to the fact that their decision is not in their hands, but is governed abroad, and the decision-making center is often either in the Gulf or Turkey."
The leader of the Unified Anbar Alliance, Muhammad al-Fahdawi, confirmed to Al-Maalouma that the voter turnout in Anbar Governorate has declined significantly during the upcoming local elections, attributing this to several reasons, foremost of which is the public's lack of confidence in the candidates with the rotation of the same previous faces.
