Shafaq News/ The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met today, Wednesday, the British Minister of State for Security Affairs, Tom Tugendhat, and his accompanying delegation.
In the meeting, which was attended by the British Ambassador and Consul General in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, they discussed the latest developments in the war against terrorism, confronting the dangers of ISIS, elections, the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil and Baghdad relations, illegal immigration to Britain, and combating materials narcotic.
The two sides stressed the importance of joint cooperation between Britain, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to reduce illegal immigration and organized crime, and they agreed in the opinion that cooperation is necessary in order to combat drugs, and therefore the necessary steps must be taken, and in this regard they talked about a memorandum of understanding that will be signed between the regional government and the British government.
On the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, the two sides agreed on the importance of strengthening the unity of the position and the unity of the internal ranks and holding elections.
On the elections, Nechirvan Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan Region is committed to holding elections, and the legitimacy of the Kurdistan Region derives from the elections.
In another aspect of the meeting, they discussed the situation in the region in general.
