After the casualties and injuries.. Kirkuk announces “wait” to evacuate the operations headquarters in exchange for ending the sit-in

On Sunday, the governor of Kirkuk, Rakan al-Jubouri, announced the delay in evacuating the headquarters of operations in the province, which is scheduled to be handed over to the Kurdistan Democratic Party as a place of presence, after acts of violence marred by demonstrations that caused casualties and injuries.
Al-Jubouri said in a statement, "After a phone call from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, we announce that we will wait to evacuate the operations headquarters in Kirkuk, and go to the demonstrators in front of the command headquarters, and talk to them about the prime minister's directive."
He added that the demonstrators "decided to withdraw the tents, end their sit-in, and open the road."
Earlier on Saturday evening, at least one victim was killed and others were injured, during acts of violence that accompanied protests by a group of Kirkuk residents, to demand the reopening of the Erbil-Kirkuk road, which was closed due to a sit-in, in protest against the decision to return the Kurdistan Democratic Party to the province.
Kirkuk is witnessing political and social tension due to the blocking of the Erbil-Kirkuk road by Arab and Turkmen parties and armed factions that reject the Iraqi government's decision to evacuate the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which is occupied by the Kirkuk Operations Command.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shayaa al-Sudani, directed the security forces in Kirkuk Governorate to impose a curfew in Kirkuk Governorate, to prevent the carrying of weapons, and to be firm in arresting “manipulators of its security” and from whatever side.
