    Al-Hayat News:
    First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called on the government to take effective measures to start the initiative to rationalize energy consumption in public and private institutions and encourage the use of renewable energy technologies and applications.
    A statement from his office, received by Al-Hayat News, stated that: “This came in the speech he delivered during his sponsorship of the second deliberative meeting on the national initiative to rationalize energy consumption and reduce emissions, in which representatives of fourteen government agencies participated.”
    Emphasizing “the need to encourage the private sector and invest in the field of renewable energy;Because of its positive economic impact and the improvement of Iraq's environment, which has been greatly affected by climate change,” stressing “the parliament's support for the initiative by providing the legislative framework of reference for it, as it sought to legislate a number of laws in this field and monitor the achievement of its goals, and work to allocate a financial budget to address the phenomena caused by climate change.”
    Mandalawi touched on the most important legislation supporting the initiative, including those related to the energy and environment sectors, a number of laws, agreements and protocols related to climate change, combating desertification and improving the environment, as well as the oversight role of the House of Representatives related to following up government procedures in energy rationalization and environmental safety standards, reducing pollution and preserving resources. Water and research on the use of renewable energy technologies.
