The Ministry of Planning announced today, Thursday, that it is preparing a five-year plan for development and poverty alleviation in Iraq, while indicating that the sustainable development plan will achieve four main goals.
The ministry’s spokesman, Abdel-Zahra al-Hindawi, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by “Al-Iqtisad News,” that “work is continuing to implement the sustainable development goals within the Iraq plan, which extends until 2030, and to focus on the important and basic goals, most notably combating poverty, improving the level of education, and improving the level of education.” Health, services, and confronting climate and environmental conditions,” noting that “these are among the most important basic foundations that Iraq seeks to achieve by translating them into plans and policies.”
He stressed, "The Ministry of Planning is now working on preparing the five-year development plan for the next five years, and there is a poverty alleviation strategy for five years as well, and as a result this represents a translation of the sustainable development goals."
He added, "The cooperation and response from all state institutions is very good, and each party is playing its required role."
He pointed out, "The Supreme National Committee and the Technical Committee for Sustainable Development Goals continue their meetings to discuss all issues related to sustainable development and develop visions, ideas, and policies that can be translated into actions in the Iraqi reality."
