Shafaq News/ The media office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani denied that one of the latter’s advisors was linked to the intelligence service of the previous regime.
Al-Sudani’s office stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency: “For some time now, there have been repeated campaigns of abuse in media sites that are far from professional, targeting the Prime Minister’s team and his office employees, by broadcasting false information that has nothing to do with the truth. The last of these campaigns was what was circulated in the media that Mrs. Rania Hussein Hanoun, who... She works as an advisor to the Prime Minister for foreign media, and her name was mentioned in a book by the former regime’s intelligence service.”
He stressed that "this report is baseless, and that the name contained in the copy of the book circulating has no connection to the Mrs. Counselor, who belongs to a sacrificial family known to the Iraqis, and contrary to what was published, as her martyr father is one of the victims of the fallen regime, and there is evidence and documents." There is no evidence in the state records that proves this.”
He called on "all media channels to be precise and cautious when dealing with false information, and the Prime Minister's Office reserves all legal rights to prosecute anyone who spreads lies and fabricated information with the aim of insulting, falsifying and distorting."
A television program on a satellite channel showed documents indicating that Rania Hassan Hanoun, advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, had a connection to the intelligence service during the rule of Saddam Hussein.
