Shafaq News/ Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stipulated, on Monday, that attention be given to the requirements for operating the development road in any agreement to operate the Al-Faw port in the south of the country.
This came during Al-Sudani’s chairmanship, this morning, of the fourth meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Implementation of the Development Road Project and the Grand Al-Faw Port, according to a statement issued by his office and received by Shafaq News Agency.
According to the statement, during the meeting, the vision presented by the Ministry of Oil and the General Company for Iraqi Ports was discussed, in order to manage and operate the large port of Al-Faw.
Al-Sudani stressed, during the meeting, that the Al-Faw port project cannot be viewed in isolation from the development road project in all its details, as the two projects express a single system that represents a future pillar of the Iraqi economy.
Al-Sudani stated that any agreement or vision to operate Al-Faw Port, after its completion, must take into account the requirements for operating the development road, stressing the importance of adhering to the time frames prepared in advance and according to the planned details of the main and secondary projects.
The meeting witnessed the expression of comments regarding the vision presented by the Ministry of Transport for the optimal method of managing the port, and it was supported by the Supreme Committee for Project Implementation and approval regarding its adoption, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office.
