{Local: Al-Furat News} Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture reassured citizens that there would be no scarcity of certain crops, pointing out that in the event of a surplus, the Ministry would close the borders to maintain the product and prices.
Muhammad Al-Khuzaie, an agriculture spokesman, told {Al-Furat News} that “the occurrence of a scarcity in certain crops is not a strange matter because all countries have peak times in crops,” stressing that “Iraq and the Ministry of Agriculture monitor the market and in the event of any scarcity in any crop, the door to import is opened.” “Until the local product is available in sufficient quantities.”
He added: "In the event of a surplus or peak, the Ministry intends to close the borders to preserve the product and prices."
The Ministry reassured that "many of our agricultural crops have found markets in many neighboring countries, such as tomatoes, potatoes, dates, and fodder, which are exported to the Gulf markets and Turkey, and have wide markets in many countries."
