On Tuesday, the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, accompanied by the Minister of Construction and Housing, Benkin Rikani, inspected the ongoing work to implement bridges and tunnels within the first package launched by the Prime Minister to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, while the secretariat confirmed that the projects of the first package to relieve traffic congestion are taking place at an increasing pace.
The secretariat stated in a statement received by Al-Maalouma, “The Mayor of Baghdad and the Minister of Reconstruction inspected the Kuryaat Bridge projects, the two canal bridges between Palestine Street and Sadr City, and the Nisour Square development projects, which include the construction of three car tunnels and two bridges.”
She added, "The projects of the first package to relieve traffic congestion are taking place at an increasing pace and are being implemented within one working team between the Secretariat and the Ministry of Construction to complete them within the specified time."
She indicated that "the Baghdad Municipality is working to prepare the work sites for these projects and implement alternative roads for them, in addition to implementing projects to develop roads and expand and develop the streets of the capital within the plans prepared in accordance with the directives of the Prime Minister and with follow-up from his office."
