Today, Wednesday (October 4, 2023), security expert Adnan Al-Kinani commented on the possibility of implementing Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani’s decision regarding reducing the number of security forces and preventing armed demonstrations.
At the beginning of this October, the office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said, “The latter directed the reduction of the number of protections and the prevention of the movement of open vehicles carrying fighters and weapons, which carry numbers of fighters and various weapons that accompany officials, leaders, and commanders at their various levels and positions, because it reflects an uncivilized phenomenon and is not appropriate.” With the aspirations and concerns of citizens and the state of security and peace experienced by the cities of Iraq.”
Al-Kanani said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “all previous prime ministers took the same decision as the Sudanese regarding reducing the number of protection units, preventing armed demonstrations, and preventing the movement of exposed protection wheels, but there is no real implementation on the ground of these decisions.”
He adds, "The Sudanese decision will remain a decision that will not be implemented, like the decisions of previous prime ministers, due to the presence of political favors and pressures, which illegally prevent many officials and politicians from protecting themselves, and this matter is certainly a major drain on the Iraqi state."
