The Joint Operations Command stressed the importance of border control by enhancing the capabilities of border forces with military equipment and technologies.
The spokesman for joint operations, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, explained to Al-Sabah, “The Operations Command emphasizes controlling the borders by strengthening the border forces, as well as equipping them with capabilities, equipment, and capabilities that enable them to control and control the borders.”
Al-Sudani added, “We have reached the final stages of the operations to control and control the borders with Syria, and there is great work towards our borders with Turkey, and this is what the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stressed on the necessity of strengthening the border guard forces in the first region and building watchtowers, noting that “we have begun to establish And strengthening the border forces. According to statistics from the Ministry of Interior, the number reached 6,000 border guards in that region.
He pointed out that “there is major work towards the Iraqi-Iranian border through the construction of the Hawizeh Dam, which will prevent smuggling operations and control the borders, in addition to other work towards strengthening the border guards with very high units and capabilities.”
In turn, the military expert, Major General Majid Al-Qaisi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “There is a plan to build a security fence on the border starting from the north of Al-Qaim to Tal Al-Suf, and it is being monitored very intensively,” noting that “there are three lines to protect the border with Syria.” To prevent ISIS infiltration, Iraq focused on these areas.
He added, “Iraq has all the necessary capabilities to protect the borders through great capabilities and border points that hold the land with Jordan and the mountainous borders to the northeast. Therefore, Iraq has strengthened its combat and technical capabilities to guard the borders in those areas and throughout Iraq’s borders.”
