The North Gas Company is proceeding with the implementation of projects to increase the production of dry gas, improve its specifications, and open additional production lines to extend electricity processing stations, in addition to offering improved high-octane gasoline and exporting large quantities of high-purity sulfur.
The company's director, Ahmed Abdel Majeed Ahmed, told Al-Sabah: The company is currently working on a project to process gas associated with oil, taking into account aspects of preserving the environment.
He added that the project includes conducting a treatment process for the gas associated with crude oil when it is extracted before burning it and preventing the spread of burning smoke and its residues that cause environmental pollution, as it is an important step in the production of clean energy.
He pointed out that the company receives raw gas from the North Oil Company, and it is involved in operations to produce four main products, the most important of which is quantities of dry gas that are prepared for electrical power production stations to support the national grid with a capacity of 1,100 megawatts, where it is fed to the Kirkuk, Dibs, and Mulla Abdullah gas stations.
He pointed out that the company has a plan to establish a third gas production line, in addition to expanding and developing its production operations to meet the needs of industrial facilities by rehabilitating its industrial laboratories and facilities through new orders to install and equip a steam boiler with a capacity of 160 tons per hour, to generate high-pressure steam, rehabilitate the fire water system, and implement A number of new gas projects.
Ahmed stated that the company has begun work to rehabilitate the compressors and gas drying units to improve its specifications, and upon completion of the work, the quantities of dry gas produced to supply power stations will increase.
He continued that the company also produces liquid gas for local consumption, which it pumps to the gas filling company that supplies cooking gas to citizens, in addition to producing (gas oil) to supply refineries and gasoline hydrogenation companies, as a contract was recently concluded to supply the investment gasoline production plant with this substance, which it is hoped will be opened after Eight months after a one-month trial run to produce 95 percent improved high-octane gasoline in order to meet the governorate’s need.
He explained that the company also feeds the solvent and gasoline production project belonging to Al-Barham Company, located near the control of Jimin in kerosene, to produce industrial materials for manufacturing the solvents pentane, hexane, and industrial cleaning materials within the petroleum solvents production unit to cover the local need instead of the imported one.
Ahmed noted that the work and preparation of quantities are carried out according to official contracts with the approval of the Ministry of Oil, and the quantity of production is consistent with marketing and export.
He pointed out that the company also produces sulfur, which is characterized by its high purity of 9.98 and is allocated for export purposes, pointing out that there are contracts to export 540,000.
tons of sulfur currently.
