Baghdad: the mainstay of the emirate
Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Mahdi Al-Qaisi, called for redoubling government efforts to control unofficial border crossings with the aim of preventing commodity dumping that harmed this vital sector, causing the migration of many farmers, while revealing the introduction of imported products despite the availability of local ones, warning of the danger of that.
He believes that water scarcity and climate change have caused a reduction in reclaimed areas, while he called for the necessity of introducing foreign investment and establishing modern irrigation systems with the participation and encouragement of the local private sector.

The advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture believes that all other productive sectors can work after the agricultural sector moves, pointing at the same time to the importance of local agricultural production (plant and animal) on the health situation, as these products are safer and more reassuring than their imported counterparts.”
Al-Qaisi pointed out that there are a number of fundamental points that represent the challenges of the agricultural sector, stressing that the most prominent and most dangerous of these points is the scarcity of water and the lack of revenues generated from neighboring countries, in addition to climate change and the retention of rain, stressing that the other challenge is the dumping of goods and the lack of control over border crossings.
