Member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Baqir Al-Saadi, confirmed on Wednesday the government’s intention to adopt vertical construction in new city projects.

Al-Saadi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The government’s efforts to build new cities in the governorates, including Baghdad, have actually begun, as city plans are now ready for implementation after determining the lands through central committees.”
He added, "50% of new city projects will depend on vertical construction, especially with the success of the Bismayah experience in attracting thousands of families, utilizing a larger area and providing services with infrastructure worthy of the citizen."
He pointed out that "the start of construction of new cities may begin within a few months, especially with the presence of a government movement to accelerate the pace of work and complete all related matters, whether engineering or administrative, to begin completing projects according to specific timelines."
Most of the governorates suffer from a stifling housing crisis that has been ongoing for many years, which has led to increasing rates of bulldozing and slums. Ended 25 February
