Baghdad - Mawazine News
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that the tragic events in Gaza brought back painful memories for the Iraqi people.
Al-Sudani said in an article published by the British newspaper The Guardian: “New countries have endured the suffering and conflict that Iraq has witnessed over the past fifty years. The tragic events in Gaza bring back painful memories for the Iraqi people. Red lines have been crossed, and civilians are suffering unimaginable suffering.” As a result, there is an urgent need for critical humanitarian assistance.”
Al-Sudani continued: “Here in Iraq, we stand in strong solidarity with the Palestinian people, and our country has committed to providing significant assistance, while we work with our international partners to put a quick end to this tragedy.”
He continued his speech: “We reiterated at the Cairo Peace Summit, with our international partners, that the destruction practiced by the occupation forces must stop, and it is very important that the region does not retreat into instability and conflict again. In this way, Iraq hopes that the region will be able to move forward and confront... to common challenges through effective cooperation.
Al-Sudani noted: “Pain and suffering take time to heal, as Iraq knows that well. Our country has worked hard to establish stability, and we find ourselves in a much more harmonious situation than at any time during the past three generations, a situation made possible by the dynamic economy.” "The growing growth and real desire for renewal and development, and maintaining this momentum represents a top priority for my administration."
He noted: “Over the past year, my government has paved the way to meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people and support their basic needs. We have passed a historic budget of $153 billion (£126 billion), focused on modernizing our infrastructure, creating job opportunities, and enhancing our social and economic growth by harnessing "The enormous potential of our youth, who make up 60% of Iraq's population."
He continued, saying: “My government has focused on creating job opportunities, rebuilding infrastructure, attracting foreign investment, and strengthening the private sector. In my opinion, these are the vital foundations for ensuring sustainable prosperity for future generations. This also involves addressing important issues that have been neglected for a long time.” , especially in education and health care.”
Al-Sudani pointed out: “Since I assumed the position of Prime Minister a little more than a year ago, my government has taken important steps to restore Iraq’s reputation on the global stage. We have reaffirmed Iraq’s decisive role in working to protect political and economic security in the region through cooperation with our international partners.” .
He went on to say: “We are continuing our war against ISIS terrorism, which threatened the region not long ago, and which now exists only in small pockets in Iraq, and thanks to our well-trained special forces, we have discovered a series of attacks planned by ISIS in Europe.” , including the United Kingdom. By continuing to work with our global security partners, we will ensure this threat is ended domestically and internationally.”
Al-Sudani stated in his article: “Corruption remains a major challenge, and the biggest threat to Iraq’s future development, and as part of our anti-corruption campaign, we asked Interpol to arrest and extradite former high-ranking Iraqi officials who embezzled more than 2.
He continued: "We have already recovered a significant amount of the stolen money, and we will bring those responsible to justice. This requires continued cooperation with partners such as the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, I met with the British Security Minister, Tom Tugendhat, to discuss joint efforts to tackle serious and organized crime." ", including drug trafficking and terrorism."
Al-Sudani said: “Our new international partnerships go beyond defense and security, and Iraq has become a place for international companies to invest and work, especially in the energy sector. In general, strengthening regional cooperation led to the signing of major investment deals during the past year, which is the first year of my administration, which indicates "Increasing international confidence in the Iraqi economy."
He continued: “Through these partnerships and by investing in our untapped potential, we will confirm our pivotal role in the region, acting as a gateway to Asia and Europe. In this new role, Iraq will be able to help achieve broader regional prosperity, based on our own experience in adversity.” “Especially at a time of distress and suffering for so many.”
He concluded: "Iraq is on a positive path, a path that others thought was not possible a few years ago, but there is still much to be done, and we are committed to ensuring that this continues for all Iraqis."
