{Local: Al-Furat News} A government source revealed a five-year government plan to develop the Iraqi army.
The source stated, "The government is seeking to contract for modern aircraft, as part of its plan for arming during the coming years and after the availability of appropriate allocations, especially since the costs of arming are very high."
He pointed out, "There is a five-year plan to advance the status of the Iraqi army to be in the ranks of international armies at the level of armament, organization, and training."

The source pointed out that “the government has implemented 5 percent of the government program so far due to the delay in approving the budget,” stressing that “it seeks to implement 34 percent of it by the end of this year.”
