The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, called today, Sunday, for the continuation of dialogue between the political forces to resolve problems in accordance with the constitution and the law, while noting the necessity of maintaining stability and completing the political and economic construction.
Al-Maliki’s media office said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Ali Reza Konai,” noting that “the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring countries.” The developments in the political and security situation in the region and the continuation of the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip were also discussed.
Al-Maliki stressed that "the Zionist entity has gone too far in its aggression against innocent, defenseless people in the Gaza Strip, and Islamic countries must stand against this aggression," calling on "the international community to abandon its positions regarding equality between the killer and the victim."
Al-Maliki stated that "Iraq is preparing to run in local elections to elect local governments capable of meeting the requirements of the Iraqi people," calling for "the necessity of continuing dialogue between all political forces, to resolve the existing problems in accordance with the constitution and the law in order to maintain stability and complete the process of political and economic construction in the country." .
In turn, Konai stressed "his country's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, and to coordinate positions on issues of concern to Islamic peoples, most notably the Palestinian issue, and solidarity and standing with the Palestinian people."
