The National Security Service announced today, Monday, the thwarting of the smuggling of 460,000 liters of fuel and the arrest of 28 defendants in several governorates within two months.
The agency stated in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News, "Our detachments continue their qualitative operations in combating the smuggling of petroleum derivatives and prosecuting those involved and bringing them to justice because of the great damage they cause that negatively affects the economic security of the country."
He added, "In two months, the Economic Security detachments were able to thwart the smuggling of 460,000 liters of fuel and arrest 28 defendants according to judicial arrest warrants."
The agency noted, "It seized 17 tanks, 9 tanks, and 4 dens used to smuggle petroleum derivatives in the governorates of (Basra, Anbar, Salah al-Din, Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Babylon)."
She stated, "The seized quantities were confiscated in coordination with the relevant authorities, and all defendants were referred for investigation to take legal measures against them."
He added, "In two months, the Economic Security detachments were able to thwart the smuggling of 460,000 liters of fuel and arrest 28 defendants according to judicial arrest warrants."
