Shafaq News/ The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed on Monday the necessity of not pushing Iraq towards the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Barzani said in his speech at the Fourth Forum for Peace and Security in the Middle East, hosted by Dohuk, that "the war between Israel and Hamas proved that global security is a real concept, and expanding the scope of the war and involving other powers in the war will make the situation more difficult."
He added: "In the event of war, we in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region must act more cautiously than ever before and we must not allow Iraq to get involved in this war for any reason."
He continued that the time has come to make Iraq an arena for solving the problems of the Iraqi people, and not an arena for prolonging war and conflict in the region.
Barzani said that the two-state solution that provides the right to existence and peace for Israel and Palestine is the only way to end the conflict. Decades of bloodshed and destruction will yield no results, neither for Palestine nor for Israel.
