{Local: Al-Furat News} A member of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee criticized the lifting of government support for fertilizers for farmers and peasants.
Committee member Thaer al-Jubouri told Al-Furat News Agency, “Attention to the issue of irrigation by spraying, especially in the current stage of water receding, should be of greater importance.”
He stated that "lifting subsidies on fertilizers is considered a serious mistake due to the unfair distribution of agricultural areas among farmers, and that lifting subsidies on fertilizers and their high prices is accompanied by the absence of a sprinkler irrigation mechanism."
Al-Jubouri pointed out that "the prices are considered very high, so the farmer cannot invest fertilizers in cultivating the current season. Therefore, this matter affected the farmers, and they were unable to use these fertilizers due to the failure to use sprinklers."
