Al-Sudani’s media office stated in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News that Al-Sudani included, in a speech he delivered, the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to hold this important conference, which aims to address one of the most serious problems in Iraq and the world, which is the drug problem, which has become a real threat and danger. "It is threatening to affect the internal and national security of countries."

He explained that "drugs dismantle the social fabric, result in economic losses, and provide an environment for crime, in addition to their threat to national security, as the drug trade has become an international dilemma, involving gangs and cross-border organizations, and one of the most important sources of financing for terrorist groups, which requires... "High cooperation and coordination between countries to reduce their danger."

Al-Sudani called on the Presidency of the Republic to “ratify all death sentences for those convicted in drug cases, which have acquired final status, in implementation of the law, and to serve as an example to everyone who dares to threaten the security of the country and its people.”

Al-Sudani said, “The government worked to diversify drug treatment mechanisms, and its first steps were to link the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] directorates and governorates to the general headquarters of the Narcotics Directorate instead of the police commands, in order to make decisive central decisions,” adding, “We allocated sites from the Ministry of Defense to the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs; To rehabilitate headquarters, parking lots and clinics for the rehabilitation of addicts and drug abusers.”
