Today, Monday, the South Gas Company announced 4 major projects within the agreement with the French company Total, while clarifying the details of the seawater project that was included in the agreement.
The Director General of the South Gas Company, Hamza Abdel Baqi, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the activation of the agreement contract with the French company Total took place on 8/16/2023,” indicating that “the activities of starting the project began.” After contract activation activities.
Abdel Baqi added, "The South Gas Company anticipated the event and an agreement was signed with KPR Company to prepare the engineering designs for this project. It is hoped that it will be completed in the middle of next year, and the gas project designs with KPR Company have been completed by 50%."
He explained, “The Total project includes four main projects: the first is the main one represented by the integrated gas growth project with a capacity of 600 million cubic feet in two stages, each stage 300 million cubic feet, the second targets the Artawi field after development, the third is the Majnoon field, and the fourth is the West Qurna 2 field, in addition to the fields Other national efforts.
He pointed out that "there are other subsequent projects, including the seawater project, which is huge and very important and receives the attention of the Basra Oil Company, and it concerns reservoir injection, as reservoirs and oil wells need water to compensate for the quantities of oil extracted to maintain reservoir pressures," noting that "this The project was suspended and was included in the projects of the agreement with Total, where all the fields of the southern region will be equipped with 5 million barrels of treated water per day, and by its completion, the production capacity of oil will be increased and reservoir pressures will also be maintained.”
