United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a phone call with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, according to what was announced by ministry spokesman Matthew Miller on Wednesday morning.
Miller wrote on the “X-Twitter” website previously that Blinken spoke by phone with Al-Sudani, adding that the US Secretary of State “welcomed Iraq’s strong condemnation of the recent terrorist acts against American individuals and the commitment to hold their perpetrators accountable and protect our employees in Iraq and Syria.”
The US State Department stated that Blinken condemned the missile attack on the US embassy in the capital, Baghdad.
She added, "Blinken confirmed in his conversation with Al-Sudani that Iranian-backed groups are behind the attacks and are undermining Iraq's sovereignty and independence."
The vicinity of the American embassy in the fortified Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad, was targeted at dawn on Friday, the eighth of December, by several missiles, which did not result in any human casualties.
