    The Green Iraq Observatory announced the recording of environmental violations by candidates for the provincial council elections, stressing that Baghdad and Nineveh topped the cities with the most environmental damage due to these campaigns.
     
    The Observatory said in a statement received by “Al-Iqtisad News” that “the monitoring teams, the reporting forms, and volunteers in 15 governorates confirmed that all governorates, without exception, recorded environmental violations since the start of the election campaign,” considering that “these violations are a violation of the instructions of the Independent High Electoral Commission and the city municipalities.” “To preserve the environment and not be affected by electoral propaganda.”
     
    The statement added that “the most prominent violations are encroaching on green spaces and gardens without taking into account the aesthetics of those environmental spaces,” adding that “placing posters in a manner that is contrary to public taste.”
     
    The Environmental Observatory stated that “the storms and rains that fell on the capital and the rest of the governorates caused some candidates’ advertisements to be torn apart, which led to them falling to the ground and distorting the views of some streets and parks,” explaining that “some of these advertisements are still parked on the ground without being lifted or placed in a place that does not affect passers-by.” the people".
     
    The Observatory explained that “the capital, Baghdad, topped these violations, followed by the governorates of Nineveh and Basra, while the governorates of Babylon, Wasit, and Muthanna were the least among the other governorates,” calling on “the political blocs and their candidates to adhere to the pledge they signed to raise their propaganda within the period specified for them by both the Commission and the Secretariat.” And other municipalities to restore the views that were distorted due to the spread of pictures and election propaganda during the past 45 days.”
