Shafaq News/ The French Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, today, Tuesday, inaugurated a center for granting entry visas to those wishing to visit its country.
The French Consul General in the region, Yann Prime, announced in a joint press conference held today with the official of the Foreign Relations Department in Kurdistan, Sven Diziyi, the opening of the center in the city of Erbil.
Prime said during the conference that the opening of this center aims to facilitate the process of citizens, tourists, students and investors obtaining entry visas to his country.
He added that booking an interview to obtain an entry visa from the consulate is free of charge, stressing that citizens will not have to visit travel and tourism offices to book an interview after the opening of this center.
For his part, the official of the Foreign Relations Department at the conference considered the opening of this center a very good opportunity for citizens in the Kurdistan Region to be able to travel outside the country and return afterward.
Sven Diziye said that this center is official, and citizens can submit applications for entry visas through it, urging the French Consulate to expedite the completion of transactions and reduce the cases of rejection issued by it regarding granting “visas” to citizens.
The government official said that most of the citizens of the Kurdistan Region aim to travel outside the country and return again, in order to reassure France that travelers heading from the region will not stay on its territory, and to demand permanent residency and the right to obtain citizenship.
