    Baghdad today - Erbil
Kurdish politician Hakim Abdul Karim confirmed today, Wednesday (January 10, 2024), that the power parties in the region agreed to postpone the Kurdistan Parliament elections.
Abdul Karim said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “there is a political will to postpone the regional parliament elections, so we did not see any comment, statement, or reaction from the Presidency of Kurdistan or the ruling parties.”
He added, "The political interest requires first understanding the quota seats in the Kurdistan Parliament, as well as the electoral system as a single electoral district or multiple districts, after which a new date for the elections will be decided."
Abdul Karim pointed out that "the current stage and the need of the parties in power for each other, we have not seen any tense positions regarding postponing the Kurdistan Parliament elections."
A few days ago, the High Elections Commission proposed postponing the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections scheduled for February 25, 2024 due to technical issues, in addition to the Federal Court not resolving the issue of electoral districts.
