Baghdad: Muhannad Abdel-
Wahab, MP Aqeel Al-Fatlawi, said that a political movement had been launched to decide the name of the next Speaker of Parliament, specifically from the “Sunni” blocs.
Al-Fatlawi explained, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “there is a necessity to resume the work of Parliament, which requires electing a president,” indicating that “we know that there is a great movement within the corridors of the Sunni House, and we in the coordination framework have not received any indication that there is an agreement on a specific personality.” .
He added, "The election of the Speaker of Parliament is subject to the decision of the Sunni House. However, if an agreement is not reached, the political blocs will go to the national space to elect candidates from among the representatives, and the result will be agreements by the political blocs on this or that candidate. This matter will be decided at the beginning of the first session and must be decided once and for all." In the second session,” he pointed out that “the absence of a president is unconstitutional for parliamentary sessions and may cause disruption of parliament’s work.”
