    Baghdad today - follow-up
    The Secretary of the Cement Industry Owners Association in Iran announced today, Sunday (January 28, 2024), that during the first nine months of the current Iranian year, 10.5 million tons of cement were exported to 25 countries, including Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria.
    Ali Akbar Al-Wandian said, at the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the start of the cement industry in the country, that “last (Iranian) year, according to statistics, 13 million tons were exported and 60 million tons were consumed locally.”
    Al-Wandian added, “In the past and current years, thanks to the Ministry of Energy’s cooperation in providing electricity and energy, we have witnessed production growth in the cement industry, and the situation is expected to be better next year.”
    He pointed out that "the golden decade in cement industry investment was two decades ago," stressing that "Iran rose to fourth place in the world at that time and now occupies sixth place in cement production."
    He continued, "Our annual production of cement amounts to 90 million tons, and we currently have 13 half-completed projects that, if operated, will add about 8 million and 800 thousand tons to the country's capacity to produce white cement."
    Alondian stressed, “We have an upward trend in the production of the cement industry, and a year ago we entered the commodity exchange and organized the supply and demand for cement,” stressing that “the cement industry now has the capacity to produce 12 types,” and said: “55 Iranian national standard products have been registered in This industry, taking into account resistance classes and added ratios.”
