The Labor and Social Affairs Committee concluded its deliberations on the Trade Unions and Federations Law, and it was submitted to the House of Representatives for the first reading.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hussein Arab, told “Al-Sabah”: “The Committee seeks to legislate the Law on Federations and Syndicates due to its importance and its contribution to organizing union work within general unions and federations inside Iraq, including the Syndicate of Journalists, Jurists, Lawyers, and Chemists,” noting that “the draft law has been submitted to the House of Representatives.” For first reading.
In another matter, Arab stated that “there is nothing left to implement the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers except to complete its instructions, after which it will be submitted to the State Council for approval and implementation,” pointing out that “the committee has prepared workshops to shed light on the law.”
It is noteworthy that the law aims to include broader coverage of workers in the three sectors (private, mixed, and cooperative), and every Iraqi will be covered by the labor law to ensure a decent life for workers and their families.
