    Today, Thursday (February 29, 2024), the Parliamentary State of Law Coalition bloc pledged to resolve the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives “with one step.” 
    The representative of the bloc, Muhammad al-Ziyadi, told “Baghdad Today” that “the election of a new speaker of the House of Representatives depends on obtaining an agreement and consensus among the Sunni political forces,” indicating that “otherwise no president can be elected and the Presidency cannot set any intermediate date.” political dispute.”
    Al-Ziyadi stressed that “deciding to elect the Speaker of Parliament depends on resolving the Sunni-Sunni differences and presenting a single candidate by these parties, to prevent any division in the positions of the blocs and parties.”
    He pointed out that "until now, there are no signs of any understandings to present a single candidate, and differences still exist."
     Earlier, the Al-Fatah Alliance confirmed that the upcoming decision of the Federal Supreme Court will be a roadmap for electing the new Speaker of Parliament .
    The representative of the coalition, Madiha Al-Maksusi, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today”: “Everyone is waiting and anticipating what will be issued by the Federal Supreme Court regarding the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament and the complaint against one of the candidates for this position .  ”
    On (February 27, 2024), a judicial source reported to “Baghdad Today” that “the Federal Court postponed the decision on the claim of canceling the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament until next April 1 for the purpose of scrutiny.”
