    Today, Thursday (February 29, 2024), the US Consulate General in Erbil expressed its concern about the “violation” of press freedom in the Kurdistan region.
    In a statement published on its Facebook page, followed by “Baghdad Today,” the consulate expressed “its concern about hearing news of recent violations against freedom of the press, including the arrest of journalists and activists in the city of Dohuk during the past week, as well as preventing media channels from covering the issue.” The recent visit of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to Halabja, which appears to have been politically motivated.”
    The US Consulate General affirmed, "its support for the full implementation of the laws on journalistic work and the right to obtain information in the Kurdistan region, and it also supports the free and unrestricted capabilities of journalists in order to accomplish their tasks."
