Director of the Ministry’s Department of Labor and Vocational Training, Osama Majeed Al-Khafaji, said, “His ministry has begun implementing a new mechanism to bring in skilled foreign workers, according to the standard of competence, experience, and professionalism, and specifically targeting them, especially housekeepers and assistants, after noting and recording some of the problems faced by Iraqi families caused by unqualified women.” Among them, such as theft and lack of identification papers, in addition to them running away from home after their work,” according to the government newspaper Al-Sabah.

He stated that some of the recruitment offices licensed by his Ministry, some of which indicate violations, will take action against them and seek to find appropriate solutions that are consistent with the law and instructions in force in this regard, indicating that there are controls that have been set for the private sector to recruit foreign workers, and if the required profession is found within the rule Ministry data: For the local unemployed, these opportunities will be achieved for them first.

Al-Khafaji added that if the Iraqi is accepted, the foreigner will be rejected, in addition to achieving a 50 percent ratio of national labor with its foreign counterpart in any project, with the foreign worker having to possess an experience certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and within a year of his recruitment he must assume the task of training local workers.
